Step 2: Make Sure the Feature is not Already on the Map

Before placing any new icons on the map in the online editor, you need to make sure that a point for the feature you want to add does not already exist. Sometimes points for structure features are labeled incorrectly, and sometimes they are not in the correct location. Determining whether or not a point is already on the map requires a little detective work.

There are two ways to determine if a feature is on the map or not: you can search for the feature using the search bar in the online editor and  you can consult authoritative online resources and map search engines. Both methods should be used when trying to determine the existence of a feature in the map.
