I found a reference to a cemetery with a church built over it. There are no grave markers. Findagrave says "The present St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church is built over an intact, undisturbed original cemetery for the parish consisting of 287 graves of Native American converts, French traders and Irish and Dutch immigrants. The original graveyard was used from 1836 to 1858. Latin records were recently translated and published by the Little Chute Historical Society and those names are also found on the St. John Genealogy Project on Rootsweb's WorldConnect." I have not found any other references. Can this be entered as a cemetery? |
Yes, I would collect this as a cemetery since it sounds like all of the original interments are still located here. The cemetery was not destroyed, nor were the interments relocated, so even though there are no longer any grave markers, we would still collect this as a cemetery. |
