Welcome to the TNMCorps Q&A community!

If you come across a location which has been temporarily relocated, for example for a 2 year demolition and rebuilding of a post office building... Then do you tag and enter the information for that original location, also adding a notation in the notes field and the temporary address location? And then also add a second tag for the same name but for the temporary location address, and also entering a notation in that notes field referencing the original location?

Would this be the correct way to handle this scenario?

Hello!

To answer your question, the points that volunteers collect should represent what is actually on the ground when the information was collected. So please move the point to the temporary location and make a note in the comments field that this is a temporary location.

We'd also greatly appreciate it if you could update the point's address to reflect the temporary address, and add the URL/web address for the authoritative source identifying the temporary location.

As always, we're appreciative of your assistance! Please let us know either here in Q&A, or at nationalmapcorps@usgs.gov if you have further questions.

Regards,

-- Sam
