I'm confused. If there is good evidence a cemetery exists, but due to heavy overgrowth no aerial imagery shows it, are we to collect the feature or not? |
There is some good information here: https://navigator.er.usgs.gov/QandA/questions/65/identifying-cemeteries, but some of the advice is more about whether to delete the point or not. I think you are asking if you should add a point. If you have good evidence that the cemetery exists (see the link to the cemetery question above for examples), then go ahead and add the point. Check GNIS: https://geonames.usgs.gov/apex/f?p=138:1:9831976015176 Check Historical Topos. Currently the USGS is working to add another Historical Topo layer to the base maps, but for now, check http://historicalmaps.arcgis.com/usgs/ Use Find-A-Grave or Billion Graves if there are other folks who have confirmed the location, usually by submitting pictures of headstones and the cemetery entrance. |
