I have found information that leads me to believe a cemetery no longer exists. Should I delete the point?

I ONLY delete cemeteries when I can find documentation that the graves have been moved somewhere else. This often happens in places where new reservoirs were built and sometimes in other cases. Otherwise it could be another unfortunate case of cemetery desecration.

Be sure the cemetery is not obscured by trees...just not being able to see the cemetery in the aerial imagery is not enough information to delete the point. Check state, county, and local sources. In addition Find-A-Grave n(http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cs) may have information to corroborate. The USGS would appreciate an email with as much information as you can find (including web links) so we can help determine if the cemetery should be moved to a historical status in the Geographic Names Information System (http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnispublic/) (associated with the GAZ ID in the optional tab).
