University police departments are included if they are regularly staffed with sworn police officers. These departments may include local police stations (or other law enforcement offices staffed by sworn officers) and should be collected/verified (e.g. University of North Carolina campus police).

If a university has a public safety department that is only staffed with safety patrol officers and not with sworn officers (such as the public safety department at Miami Dade College), then those departments should not be collected.

It does not matter where the police station is located (in the community or on a school campus), as long as the station is regularly staffed with sworn police officers who report to that location daily. So yes, you can collect the police departments located on Virginia university campuses.

Can I get some clarification? In the state of Virginia many of the universities have their own police departments which are fully accredited law enforcement agencies just like any Virginia city or county police department. We should not collect these points for the National Map?
