The database has trouble processing names with special characters in them. Hyphens (-) and slashes (/) are allowed in limited quantities if the authoritative name includes them. For example, West Junior/Senior High School is acceptable formatting, whereas West Junior & Senior High School would need to be changed.

"&" should be replaced with "and" "@" should be replaced with "at" "#" needs to be removed and does not need to be replaced, for example "Cemetery #4 can be changed to Cemetery 4" "*" need to be removed and does not need to be replaced "." abbreviations should be spelled out and periods removed
