The Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland CA http://www.altabatessummit.org/patientsandvisitors/maps.html has several points that have been edited all on the same campus. I think it should be only one point showing just the medical center instead of each part of the center and if so which ones should be deleted? |
We researched the affiliation of the 2 "Pavilion" points in question. They are part of the Alta Bates hospital, just additional buildings providing hospital care. If additional hospital points are part of the same hospital, as in this case, where Merritt Pavilion and the Providence Pavilion (now part of South Pavilion) are separate buildings providing hospital care and they are part of the SAME hospital, it is OK to delete the additional points and place one point for the hospital on the main building. The name would be as listed on the website as: Alta Bates Summit Medical Center Summit Campus HOWEVER, there are exceptions where there are 2 separate hospitals housed in the same medical complex and 2 points would remain in the database. A good example of this is Saint Anthony Hospital and the OrthoColorado Hospital just off the Federal Center in Lakewood CO. Even though both have an affiliation with Centura Health, OrthoColorado Hospital is a joint venture with local physicians as well. It could also be thought of as a specialty hospital. Two hospital points, with different names, would remain in the database. These situations should be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and include some research to determine if the additional points should be removed. Much of our hospital data has not been reviewed for up to 3 years now, except where TNMCorps volunteers have edited the data. The base data may be as old as 2008 and Hospital names change fairly frequently as they are bought and sold or mergers occur. Many smaller older hospitals also closed. |
